10 Great Gifts For Dad’s Day

Dad’s Day is special, and if you’re on the prowl for some great gear grabs your dad is sure to love, give the to-come items a read. All have been tested, and all are field-ready and dad-approved.

by Jace Bauserman

We know how hard dads work, and while the day that celebrates the role model, provider, best friend, etc., in your life is 19 days away, we wanted to give you plenty of time to find that just-right gift.

The to-come items are dad wins, and we provide several outdoor gear pieces at different price points to provide you with an array of options.

Without further adieu, let’s dive in. Give each a thorough read, then click on the included link with each product and get good ol’ dad something great.

SEVR Titanium 1.75″

If your dad likes to sling carbon arrows at big-game critters, likely, he’s already daydreaming about fall, and one of the best gifts you can get him is a quality arrow topper.

I have shot SEVR broadheads for years, and like any product mentioned in this article, I won’t put my stamp of DAD APPROVAL on it if I haven’t used it.

SEVR’s new Titanium 1.75″ fills a gap between the uber-popular 1.5″ and 2.0″ broadheads. You won’t find a more accurate expandable, and dad can use the included set screw, add it to the ferrule, and practice with the same broadhead he plans to bowhunt with.

Like the 1.5″ and 2.0″, SEVR’s 1.75″ is optimized for penetration aand can be used with vertical bows and crossbows. The swept-back blade angle on this rear-deployment broadhead is genius, and the Lock-and-Pivot design locks the blades open on impact. This broadhead causes maximum devastation and will help make all of dad’s bowhunting dreams come true.

Hoyt VTM 31

Perhaps your dad is on the GREAT and not GOOD list this year, and you want to give him the ultimate Dad’s Day gift.

Enter Hoyt’s new-for-2023 VTM 31. I used this bow this spring to harvest four longbeards in four different states, and it’s Hoyt’s best compound bow build to date.

Just shy of 31-inches axle-to-axle, this 6-inch brace height bow is draw-length adjustable between 25 and 30 inches in half-inch increments and hits a top speed of 342 fps. The bow, without accessories, weighs 4.6 pounds. As for accessories, this rig promotes the best attachment options in the industry via its In-Line system.

Another notable feature is the Drop Cord Slot, a fantastic addition for those that shoot a cable-driven rest. This bow holds and aims like a dream, and will perform as well in the western mountains as it will in the whitetail woods.

ALPS OUTDOORZ Impulse

If there is a better whitetail backpack than ALPS’ Impulse, I’ve yet to use it. When I spend time 18 feet up a tree or in a ground blind waiting on Mr. Big, this is the pack I have with me.

The DeadQuiet fleece exterior reduces game-spooking noises, and the waterproof membrane holds up to Mother Nature’s worst moods. I also applaud that you can choose between solid (Coyote Brown) and camo (Realtree Edge) patterns.

The pack’s interior is lined with whisper-quiet suede fabric and access to the main compartment is zipperless, which adds another element of total stealth. A series of quality magnets keep the top lid closed. A drop-down pocket will allow dad to tote his gun or bow hands-free, and the numerous internal pockets and external mesh pockets allow for the exact organization of must-have deer gear.

The waist belt is adjustable and is fitted with a pair of side pockets, which are great for need-right-now gear storage. The pack is hydration bladder compatible and features a pair of hose ports.

Peak Sampler Pack

My kiddos got me this last year for Father’s Day, and it’s my all-time favorite gift. I spend a lot of time in the backcountry scouting, hunting, hiking, and fishing, and meals from Peak are the best I’ve found.

The Peak Sampler Pack includes 12 different dehydrated meals that only need boiling water and time to provide a nutrient-rich backcountry entree. Peak Refuel meals are the best I’ve tasted; each comes with 100 percent real meat. They rehydrate quickly and are ready to eat in 10 minutes or less.

Sawyer One Gallon Gravity Water Filtration System

I was introduced to Sawyer’s One Gallon Gravity Water Filtration System on a backcountry Colorado elk hunt last year, and now I own three of them.

In seven minutes, this lightweight, packable water filtration system will filter a gallon of the dirtiest water you can find and make it safe to consume. Best of all, use doesn’t require an MIT degree. Open the wide-mouth cap, add a gallon of water, hang, and let the Sawyer Mini filter and gravity do the work.

Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 – BE.S.T. Shotgun

A few years back, my sister and I combined our finances and bought our dear old dad a set of top-end golf clubs. The price tag hurt, but by combining funds, our bank accounts didn’t take a terrible hit, and our dad was so happy.

If your pop is a shotgunner who has hinted at wanting to join the sub-gauge club, get Benelli’s Super Black Eagle 3 – BE.S.T. Shogun in a 20-gauge. From ducks to geese to waterfowl to turkeys, this shooter gets the job done, and it’s a joy to shoot.

The shotgun shoots like a dream, balances, and swings well, and doesn’t abuse the shoulder. Benelli engineers and scientists developed the BE.S.T. Surface Treatment, which is armor against rust, corrosion, etc. The BE.S.T. Surface Treatment covers all metal parts, and makes this shotgun bulletproof.

Of course, the 20-gauge ensures lighter recoil, but shoulder pounding is further reduced when combined with the Combtech stock and the ComforTech 3 recoil-reduction system.

Delta McKenzie Bloodline Buck 3D Archery Target

Shooting arrows is fun, but when dad can graduate from a bag or square foam target to something that looks like North America’s most popular big-game animal, he’ll be in the backyard more often.

Delta McKenzie dubs it the Bloodline Buck 3D Archery Target, and mine has taken thousands of arrows and still doesn’t let my 4mm Easton Axis Long Range shafts sink to the fletchings. The self-healing foam boosts target longevity, and the core of this 43-inch long by 40-inch tall target is replaceable. Best of all, perhaps, is this 3-D target doesn’t break the bank.

Kenetrek Corrie II Hiker

Dad needs new kicks, so get him a pair that works as well for chores around the house as they do in the elk woods.

I’ve worn Kenetrek’s Corrie II Hiker from the sage-dappled plains to the Rockies, and these 7-inch tall, 3.5-pound boots are comfortable, durable, and sport a tread pattern that grabs the ground.

The lace-to-toe system provides a snug fit and feel, and reinforced double and triple stitching in high-wear areas married with a rubber toe and heel guards mean season after season of no-fail use.

The boots’ flexible but firm 5mm nylon midsole provides exceptional support in rugged terrain but is flexible enough for everyday wear while doing chores around the house.

Hornady Superformance

It doesn’t matter what caliber dad favors; just make sure he’s running top-tier ammunition through it. One of my favorites is Hornday’s Superformance. I have shot Superformance ammo tipped with V-MAX, NXT, SST, and CX bullets at coyotes, elk, deer, pronghorn, and bears, and the results are always the same: devastating.

Superformance loads feature remarkable propellants that, when married with a great bullet design and the best case and primer possible, boost rifle performance up to 200 feet per second without creating additional chamber pressure, recoil, muzzle blast, etc.

HuntStand Pro Whitetail

If dad likes maps and is always looking for new hunt destinations on public dirt in far-flung locales, get him a HuntStand Pro Whitetail membership.

This app is my go-to for all things hunting, and it includes property maps that denote public and private boundaries, allow for the dropping and sharing of waypoints, etc. I also love that with Pro Whitetail, I get a detailed 7-day whitetail area forecast that includes must-know weather intel, peak whitetail movement times, an annual rut map, and a whitetail habitat layer.

Ten great items that dad will love, all linked and ready. All you need to do now is move these products to the forefront of your brain, think about what your dad would love most, make a purchase plan, submit your payment, and make this Father’s Day one to remember.
