This is not a hunting boot, but if you’re looking for a comfortable, durable, waterproof pair of kicks that are excellent for backyard chores, boating adventures, and general everyday use, DryShod’s Evalusion All-Around Shoe is a winner.
A while back, I shared my thoughts on the DryShods Evalusion Hunt rubber boots. I couldn’t help but praise their running-shoe-like comfort, durability, and waterproof nature. To this day, I stand by my review: The DRYSHOD Evalusion boots not only met but surpassed my expectations. They are my trusted companions for all my summer and fall/winter excursions in the whitetail woods.
I was a man of my word. My feet dawned the Evalusion Hunt boots on every one of my whitetail adventures, and from late September through December, the shoes proved their salt. They are everything I look for in a quality rubber hunting boot.
I’ve made my living as an outdoor writer and content creator for 14 incredible years. I’ve been blessed to be the head content creator for Born Hunting for three years now. I hate the word editor. It sounds too fancy. I know how much hunting means to each one of you. I know how hard you work to make your hunting dreams a reality. And I know how much gear costs, and I never want to hype a product up more than it needs to be or steer anyone down the wrong path.
Recently, I tested Dryshod’s new for 2024 Evalusion All-Around. The rubber-boot-style shoe has several finish options, including Camo, Black, Brown, and Navy. I don’t brand these kicks as hunting boots. Instead, as the name implies, they are an “all-around” waterproof shoe designed to be airy, comfortable, and feel like a pillow on the feet.
Recently, I wore the shoes to the lake on a fishing trip for. They make excellent boat shoes. Not only are they awesome for loading and unloading the boat while standing in the water, but the outsole lug pattern ensures superb traction in the boat, even when wet.
I rarely wore socks with the shoes, especially in the 100-degree-plus Colorado heat while mowing the lawn and shooting my bow in the backyard. Despite their waterproof build, the shoes feel cool on the feet, and I didn’t get a single blister. My issue was a small hotspot on the back of my Achilles, which could have been easily fixed. I just ignored the issue.
The premium 4-way stretch materials make slipping these shoes on and off easy. And, honestly, I wore them as a house shoe a few times. The Airmesh lining keeps the feet from feeling like a sauna, and the reinforced tuck board with rigid nylon shank boosts arch support.
Built on a running shoe platform, the Evalusion All-Around is super comfortable, and I appreciate the rubber-overlay design. These shoes do not contain PVC, PU, or TPR.
These shoes would make an excellent kick-around camp shoe, and I plan to take them on a hunt this fall. No, not to chase down a backcountry bugler, but instead, to wear around camp at night. Also, one particular elk honey hole of mine requires a creek crossing. Every year, I remove my boots and strip down to my boxers. This year, I will still strip down to my boxers, but instead of slipping, sliding, and beating my feet up on rocks and river debris, I will glide across in comfort in my Evalusion All-Around Shoe. Then, I’ll stash the shoe in the trees, slip my boots on, and go elk hunting.
Is Dryshod’s Evalusion All-Around a must-have piece of hunting gear? No. Do these boots serve an outdoor purpose? Absolutely. I stamp my approval on them as a shoe designed for wet and muddy conditions, boating, camping, yard work, and a general, ultra-comfortable kick-around shoe.
