Discover the NEBO CurvBeam 850 Flex Headlamp, a lighting solution with 850 lumens, adjustable settings, and a comfortable design. Perfect for hunting, running, and outdoor adventures.
I’m a headlamp connoisseur. I ditched Energizer Bunny brands years ago and have amassed a shoebox full of others.
Why so many?
I use headlamps almost every single day of my life. A roaming western hunter who sleeps where his day on the mountain ends, my headlamp is a critical piece of my hunt gear. In October, when I shift my attention to whitetail, I tend to live under the glow of red/green lights. The same goes for gobbler-getter season. Plus, as an ultra-runner who spends his summer running through the night on gnarly trails, it seems the nylon band of a headlamp is always wrapped around my head.
Here’s a fact: Not all headlamps are created equal. For grins, I added up how many headlamps I currently have. It’s a bit embarrassing, but the total is 54. From Coast to Fenix to PEAX and Black Diamond, it’s an impressive collection. As a gear tester, and as noted, someone who relies heavily on headlamps, only four of the 54 have made the cut. I have no room for clunky headlamps with subpar beams. I despise those with non-adjustable bands and poor battery life, and buttons that stick. Those with a non-adjustable head are worthless, and if a rechargeable battery isn’t included, the headlamp isn’t worth its salt.
NEBO CurvBeam 850 Flex
I’d heard good things about NEBO and was excited to put the CurvBeam 850 Flex Headlamp to the test. NEBO CurvBeam 850 Flex First Impressions: I love the slim, light build. The minature, adjustable head jumped out at me, as did a pair of light bands on each side of the main head. I assumed those yellow bands were lights. However, I never look up reviews or even visit a product’s webpage before I examine it. I don’t want to form an opinion before looking a product over for myself.

The NEVO CurvBeam 850 Flex comes with a rechargeable battery (C-charger), and accessing and removing it from the back compartment is easy. I like the protected rubber cord that runs from the battery compartment to the right-side yellow/clear light section. The head pivots, and though the on/off button on top of the orange head is small, it’s easy to find.

The replacement battery charges quickly, and with the CurvBeam juiced up, I was instantly impressed by its numerous brightness settings and the amount of light the headlamp produces. Pressing the top button truns on a pair of lights, and the on/off button lets the user toggle through brightness settings.

The side lights also have a switch. Press the black, circular right-side button once, and the CurvBeam instantly covers a 180-degree area. You can run the CurvBeam in concert with the two lights inside the headlamp housing for added light. Press and hold the right-side black button, and you get instant red light, which is a must for any hunter. Another feature I like is the battery box battery indicator button. Press the orange button to see current battery life.
The nylon band is fully adjustable and generally comfortable. I did a 6-mile night run with the CurvBeam 850 Flex and it rode well. As far as its ability to light the way, it’s a pack-leader in the headlamp arena. I would prefer a top strap in combination with the side strap, but after glancing at NEBO’s website, I see the manufacturer makes plenty of headlamps with a top strap. Battery life was impressive.
The unit runs on AAA batteries or the included rechargeable battery. I got 7 hours of runtime with various lighting settings using the rechargeable battery, and 5:38 minutes with three DuraCell AAA batteries.
