Turkey hunting requires a litany of gear. Here are some of our top turkey-gear picks for 2026.
by Jace Bauserman
The good thing about February is my bride’s birthday, and that with each passing day, we’re all one day closer to turkey season. Yes, we’ll soon trade winter boredom for 3 a.m. wakeup calls, gobbles, fans, and all the sights and smells that make springtime magic.
Besides time in the woods, one thing turkey hunting requires—if you plan to fill tags consistently—is a litany of gear. From clothing to chokes to broadheads to shotguns and bows, turkey hunting is a gear-rich endeavor.
Here are some of our top 2026 turkey gear items, and we will continue to add to this list in the coming weeks and months as we test additional gear.
G5 Dirty Bird

A stick-and-string headshot on a wild turkey will result in a dead bird or a clean miss. There is no in between. For this reason, I love the headshot. What I don’t love are modern-day decap-style broadheads. Decap broadheads don’t fit in a quiver. They hang up on ground blind material and vegetation, and most fly terribly beyond 20 yards. Until now.
Enter G5’s 3-inch cutting diameter Dirty Bird. A three-blade decap broadhead built for longbeards, the Dirty Bird uses a front-folding blade system that allows archery turkey hunters to fold the blades closed for quiver and travel storage. When you’re ready to hunt, fold the blades forward. The Magnetic Retention system will snap them in place, and you’re good to send carbon. G5 designed the Dirty Bird with a Blunt Tip and a specific ferrule design that allows maximum energy transfer before the decap blades cut into the head and neck. This 125-grain broadhead solves a problem and kills like crazy.
Wicked Ridge Commander 400

Introducing the Wicked Ridge Commander 400, a highly capable horizontal bow priced under $600, perfect for both seasoned turkey hunters and novices alike. The ready-to-hunt crossbow comes with a package that includes an ACUdraw Crank Cocking Device for effortless cocking, a Pro-View 400 Lighted scope for enhanced visibility, three Match 400 carbon arrows for precision shooting, and a sturdy quiver to keep your gear organized.
The Commander 400 comes turkey-ready, allowing you to confidently pursue your hunting goals and easily fill your tags. With a remarkable top speed of 400 fps, this crossbow measures 35.75 inches in length and only 11 inches wide when cocked, making it compact and maneuverable in the field. It’s great for ground blinds, tossing on a leafy jacket, and plopping down in front of a big trunk.
The innovative, narrower limb assembly features attached MDX cams that extend the power stroke, significantly increasing rotation and boosting speed—all without compromising shootability or accuracy. Whether you’re hunting in dense woods or open fields, the Commander 400 is designed to deliver exceptional performance. Plus, this crossbow is a nightmare for whitetails and other big game animals.
Chêne Deception Leafy Jacket

I’ve spotted, stalked, and killed many big-game animals wearing a leafy jacket. Concerning turkeys, I don’t think there’s a better option for shotgun and bowhunting birds. This is especially true if you’re not planning to use a ground blind. The problem: Most hunt clothing manufacturers have gone away from leafy jackets. That’s why I tip my hat to Chêne Gear, and look forward to putting its Deception Leafy Jacket to use this spring.
Available in sizes Small to 3XL, the Deception Leafy Jacket comes in camo options of Mossy Oak Foliage and Mossy Oak Original Bottomland. Chêne used a leaf design drawn by an employee and a material that allows the individual leaves to provide 3D deception without shaking, rattling, and creating too much unnatural noise when the wind blows. Turkey hunters love products that provide this much attention to detail.
The entire body of the jacket is 62 GSM Polyester Mesh, printed on both sides to ensure there is no white showing between the leaves. The hood is adjustable, a full-length YKK zipper makes on/off easy, and the bottom of the jacket is adjustable with draw cords for a perfect fit. The jacket also has a pass-through pocket to allow you access to your underlayers.
Avian-X Ridge Runner Turkey Vest

A top-tier, new-for-2026 turkey vest, the Ridge Runner, was built for run-and-gun turkey fanatics fed up with heavy, uncomfortable vests that fit too loosely and allow calls to create noise when you don’t want them to. A vest that attaches to a purposeful backpack that allows additional storage between the vest and pack, you can haul decoys, a dead bird, and all the gear you need to be successful.
I love the magnetic, fully adjustable, molded 2-inch high-density foam seat and the fleece-lined pockets. Turkey hunters know sun-drenched days can be few and far between in spring, and these side-zip pockets keep your hands toasty. The waist and shoulder straps are fully adjustable, letting you make on-the-go fit changes. I also love that Avain-X added Comfort Plus padding at the top and bottom of the vest. This vest rides like a dream, no matter how much weight you put in it. Another excellent feature is the EVA-molded pockets that protect calls and make them easy to access.
Prime Divide 31

Measuring 31 inches between the axles and weighing only four pounds, Prime’s Divide 31 will help you make accurate head and body shots on boy birds. I recommend going with the 7-inch brace-height option with standard (not performance) cams to ensure a buttery draw and pinpoint accuracy.
Advanced Structure Technology (AST) reduces flex at full-draw. Center Grip shifts balance to the bow’s middle to ensure quick target acquisition and a steadier hold. I’ve shot the Divide 31 to 120 yards, and for a shorter axle-to-axle bow, it delivers remarkable shot-to-shot consistency. You’ll cheer the aluminum/carbon rod riser with Nano Grip technology. The grip is thin and feels great in hand. Plus, advanced composite materials in the grip keep your bow warm to the touch, even on chilly spring mornings.
MIGRA Hybrid Turkey Shot

Jelly more heads this spring with MIGRA’s Hybrid Turkey Shot. Featuring a potent blend of patented stacked-load technology, Hybrid Turkey Shot is available in 12- and 20-gauge in a 5/9 Lead/TSS blend. Layers of nickel-plated lead stacked over high-density tungsten ensure tight, dense patterns that deliver absolute lethality. Close or far, the results this load produces is devastating.
MIGRA uses a refined buffer system, a sealed crimp, and an overshot card to keep moisture out of these 3-inch-high payload (2-ounce 12-gauge; 1-1/2-ounce 20-gauge) shotshells.
CVA Scout Spur 28 Gauge

Designed for comfort, maneuverability, and all-day carry, CVA’s Scout Spur 28 Gauge is the talk of the 2026 turkey-gun world. Under $700, this break-action single-shot 28-gauge promises amazing ergonomics, customizable adjustments, and is suppressor-ready. The Scout Spur 28 Gauge comes fitted with a Picatinny rail that makes optic-mounting—standard scope or red dot—a breeze.
The adjustable cheek pad ensures eye-to-optic alignment, the hammer is easy to cock, and the trigger breaks crisply and cleanly. Everything turkey goers loved about the .410 bore is now available in a hard-hitting 28 gauge.
Patternmaster Anaconda Striker .670

I’ve crushed many a turkey domes with Patternmaster chokes. My 2026 go-to is the Anaconda Striker .670. 12GA. Promising an effective range of 70 yards, the patented Coil Zone provides a precision-machined channel with a left twist that counters the payload’s natural right spin. This results in a shorter shot string. A shorter shot string puts more pellets on target for quick, clean kills.
I like the easy-to-grip Olive Drab Green finish. The non-ported choke does add a bit of recoil but when a strutter rolls into range, you’re adrenaline will surge. All you’ll notice is how the .670-inch restriction Anaconda Striker puts birds down instantly. You can put your trust in Patternmaster. I have for years, and they haven’t let me down.
