Meindl USA has introduced the Meindl Perfect Fit App, a browser-based mobile tool designed to match shoppers with the company’s boot lasts and sizes using foot-scanning technology. The North American distributor says the app is intended to reduce the uncertainty that often comes with buying outdoor footwear online.

Rather than relying only on foot length, the Meindl Perfect Fit App scans for foot shape and compares that data to Meindl’s proprietary lasts. That process is meant to produce a more specific recommendation based on how a boot is actually built, not just the number on a size chart.

“We’ve taken our old-world craftsmanship, combined it with new-world technology, and made an app that will allow you to know exactly what last and size is best for you,” said Phil Francone, Founder and President at Meindl USA. “This is going to help ensure customers can enjoy our uncompromising comfort and value right out of the box.”

Fit remains one of the biggest variables in outdoor footwear, especially for brands that build around different lasts instead of a single universal shape. That makes digital fitting tools more relevant as more boot shopping moves online and consumers expect better guidance before placing an order.

In Meindl’s case, the last recommendation is the more notable part of the rollout. The company points to options such as its Comfort Fit last, which uses a roomier, more anatomical toe box, and its Standard Fit last, which is positioned as a snugger, more athletic fit. Translating that distinction into a consumer-facing app could make the buying process more approachable for first-time buyers and returning customers alike.

The app also fits the broader positioning of Meindl USA, which launched in 2019 to expand the Bavarian bootmaker’s reach in North America. The company’s lineup spans hiking, hunting, trail, and winter footwear, along with merino socks and accessories, and the new tool adds a digital service layer to that direct-to-consumer model.

The Meindl Perfect Fit App is available now for iOS and Android through Meindl USA’s website, with no download required. The company says shoppers can access it from any product page and receive a personalized size and last recommendation in minutes.
